CHANGES TO THE CALIFORNIA PLUMBING CODE
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
This course will cover all chapters of the California Plumbing Code. It will also identify the difference between the International and California Plumbing Code, where applicable. The course will cover general provisions, plumbing fixtures, water heaters and venting, water systems, drainage systems, combustion air and gas piping. The course will also cover concerns of tank-less water heater installations on existing sanitary drainage systems and gas pipe sizing.
Dan McLaughlin has been in the inspection profession since 1978, beginning as a residential inspector for the City of Los Angeles. In 1980 he moved to Santa Barbara, CA, and took the position of Combination Residential Inspector. His main background before starting in this trade was as a journeyman carpenter, but he became interested in plumbing and mechanical. In 1984, Dan was promoted to Building Inspector Supervisor with a staff of seven inspectors. In 1996, Dan took a job in Ventura, CA, as Senior Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector. In the year 2000 a local community college started a Construction Technology Program and Dan was asked to teach plumbing and mechanical code. He was also fortunate for several years to provide training for California Building Officials (CALBO) at their annual conferences. In 2005, Dan went to work for the City of Goleta as their Building Manager. He retired in 2010 and currently works for a private consulting firm, and continues to teach at the community college, CREIA (California Real Estate Inspection Association) and other local government agencies.
